Stockholm Pride Presents EuroPride 2008 PDF Print E-mail
Sweden - Events, Sweden
Pride Parade Stockholm Sweden

Stockholm Pride, host of EuroPride in 1998, has the largest number of visitors, the biggest parade, the loudest debates, and the largest celebration and recreation area for LGBT people and friends in Scandinavia. Celebrating ten years of success by hostning EuroPride 2008, the celebration will be taken one step further!

EuroPride 2008 offers politics, culture and party. In Pride Park, you’ll find a great mix of new and world-famous artists, colour ful and creative shops, a wide range of restaurants, amazing performances and live music, debates and children’s activities. PrideHouse is the place for discus sion, con ver - sation and networking. On top of many topics covered in a week-long program of seminars, workshops, debates, films, and performances, there will be a special focus on international issues. Pride and the City presents a wide range of performances and queer exhibitions that take place in multiple venues through out the city. On Saturday the 2nd of August, we’re bringing the pride spirit to the streets with the Pride Parade! In 2007, the parade brought around 500,000 participants and spectators to the streets of Stock holm – in 2008, we are welcoming even more to come out to celebrate!

The festival theme, »Swedish Sin, Breaking Borders«, stems from the 60’s equal rights movement and the attitudes toward sexual politics and liberation in Sweden. During EuroPride 2008, this theme will project political focus on international solidarity and other important issues for LGBT people around the world. The »sinful« oppression of LGBT people must be faced and not forgotten.
