Christmas in Tivoli has over the years become a firm family
tradition in the heart of Copenhagen. A family tradition offering
masses of Christmas trees, presents, elves, stalls and magic. Cold
noses, warm beverages, a cosy atmosphere and amazing lightings -
Christmas in Tivoli is a winter fairytale.
Scenery
The enchanting Tivoli Lights, invented by
Tiffany's head designer, John Loring, are a story in their own right:
one thousand eight hundred light chains are needed for the willows
around The Tivoli Lake. Another 5000 metres is needed for all the
Christmas trees and a further 1000 metres for the buildings at Tivoli.
Tivoli's grand Christmas tree, decorated with miles of fairy lights,
lights up the centre of the Gardens. The Christmas tree will stand in
the area in front of the Concert Hall, where it will tower higher and
more lavishly than previous years.
Rides
Tivoli's
rides will be twirling merrily during Christmas in Tivoli, so much in
fact that all of Tivoli's amusements will be open. And if this wasn't
enough, this Christmas will feature the following special amusements:
the Swing Carousel, the Music Carousel and the Chinese Lantern.
New ride!
This year Pixie Ville will
include a new ride (in addition to the popular Elves' Train): a
cableway that takes visitors on a ride above the snow-covered landscape
where they can see all the pixies and elves preparing for Christmas.
Shopping and eating
Christmas in Tivoli's villages
will be buzzing with life when more than 70 stall holders move in with
their wide range of decorations, presents, delicacies, food and drink.
All of Tivoli's familiar restaurants will be offering a warm welcome.
The usual fare will be replaced with traditional Christmas delicacies
and you are recommended to book a table as Tivoli has become a popular
venue for company Christmas parties.
Entertainment
In Tivoli's music and theatre halls, the
Glass Hall and the Concert Hall, there will be wonderful entertainment
for young and old. The Fairy-Tale Theatre (Eventyrteatret) takes
over the Glass Hall during the day, while the Crazy Christmas Cabaret
moves into the Hall in the evenings. Some knowledge of both English and
Danish is required to understand the mad theatricals of the Crazy
Christmas Cabaret.
The Concert Hall will host the very last performances of Aveny-T's
hip-hop version of the Nutcracker, an amazing version of a classic
Christmas tale for the whole family.
